What this dance-shop is about
A two-hour couples workshop where Bachata meets deeper connection — for body and mind, rhythm and relationship.
This is not your typical dance class. And it’s not your typical couples session. Think date night in the Dominican Republic!
Target participants
This workshop is for any couple — at any stage, any age — who wants to connect in a way that feels different from the usual.
You don’t need dance experience. You don’t need to be “working on” your relationship.
Couples join because they want …
- a fresh way to spend time as a couple
- something more alive than a dinner reservation
- to explore the interplay of feminine and masculine energy
- to experience a safe, non-verbal and guided space
- or you might simply want to feel your way back toward each other
All of that belongs here.
Every couple works at their own pace, within their own ability and ambition. You stay with your partner throughout — there is no switching.
With only eight couples in the room, the space is intimate enough for genuine attention and spacious enough to feel at ease.
By the time you walk out together, you’ll carry with you a complete beginner Bachata sequence you can practise and enjoy on your own. But the deeper takeaways are what make this workshop singular.
You’ll leave with a heightened awareness of how you and your partner communicate without words — and practical insight into non-verbal cues, self-leadership, and making clear, compassionate requests of each other.
You’ll have experienced what it feels like to be truly intentional with your body, and your presence in the relationship. And most importantly, you’ll have shared something joyful.
A physical, creative, slightly daring experience that reconnects you to the simple truth that moving together is one of the oldest ways humans have said I’m with you.
The workshop unfolds in a carefully sequenced arc — moving you from stillness into rhythm, from awareness into expression, and from individual reflection into shared experience.
Opening & Welcome
Sebastian and Hester introduce the concept and invite all to arrive fully: phones off, together on.
Partner Awareness
A guided exercise in which each partner tunes into their own needs and intentions for the session.
Bachata Foundations
Intro to rhythm, weight shift, subtle conversation between lead and follow. No experience needed.
Energy Reflections
This is where the dance becomes a mirror for the couples’ interaction and intimate dynamic.
Bachata Sequence
Gently building toward a full sequence you can take home. Awareness sharpened, movement flowing.
Closing & Appreciation
The workshop draws to a close with a moment of mutual acknowledgement of what you discovered together, and what you want to carry forward.
Discover a new language of intimacy
Bachata communicates without words — through touch, timing, and trust. You’ll be building a sensitivity that carries far beyond the dance floor.
Experience the power of intentional presence
Stepping out of autopilot. You’ll be guided into an awareness of what you each need and what qualities you want to bring into the room.
Explore feminine and masculine energy with freedom
The lead-and-follow dynamic of Bachata offers a playful, embodied way to feel into roles and expression that may surprise you. There’s no script.
Break the routine with something your body remembers
This workshop gives you a memory, a sequence, and a spark you can return to together at home, in the kitchen, whenever a song catches you both.
Receive expert guidance in an intimate setting
With a maximum of eight couples, you benefit from expert insights in a safe space without judgement.
Live like we’re dancing, love like we mean it.
Meet the instructors
Hester is a certified Bachata instructor with 20+ years of dance and RAD ballet. Her classical training sharpens alignment and mindful movement, helping couples dance bachata with connection and joyful expression.
She draws on music and emotion to spark spontaneous, heartfelt moments and will guide couples step-by-step to build confidence and chemistry on the dance floor.

Designed and co-led by couples counsellor Sebastian Droesler and dance artist Hester Lo, this two-hour experience weaves beginner Bachata with guided couples awareness.
Hester brings your body alive as a certified Bachata teacher and with decades of dance experience. Sebastian brings in relational depth from his 15 years of couples work. Together they transform movement into living connection.
Modern couples approaches integrate attachment, psychology and physiology. Sebastian’s training reflects the combined relationship wisdom of all three areas.
In addition, as a mindfulness teacher he enables people with mental strategies and practices for self-awareness, feeling tone and intentionality. About Sebastian …
