Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a standard training program which combines Mindfulness Practices with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
MBCT is the gold standard of mindfulness-based non-medication approaches to prevent the relapse into depression and anxiety. It is the program with the largest and most profound scientific research worldwide.
Everyone can benefit from building mental capacity, expanding awareness and cultivating presence. Participants will learn skills and practices to increase resilience to stress and negative thinking spirals.

The program is designed to identify and effectively address the triggers and symptoms of low mood, depression and anxiety as they arise in everyday life.
Much like physical exercise can help you to recover and prevent illness by building muscles, increase flexibility and overall fitness, MBCT increases your mental fitness and flexibility. It also develops your inner strength and the mental muscles of awareness and attention.

Teacher and facilitator
MBCT Teacher Sebastian Droesler
Sebastian Droesler is a Counselling Psychologist who has been working as a mental health professional for more than 10 years. He is certified with the Toronto Centre for Mindfulness Studies (Toronto and Oxford being the two leading and founding MBCT institutions worldwide)
He holds master’s degrees in Psychology and Counselling and practices Mindfulness himself since he started working in the field. He studied Early Buddhism at HKU.
Teaching the program
Sebastian works with many individuals suffering from low mood, depression and anxiety. Based on his experience the practice of mindfulness in combination with cognitive training not only helps to prevent the relapse into depression and anxiety but caters to improve mental health in general.
He teaches MBCT because it was particularly designed for expanding the skillset to better respond to situations and periods of distress that he sees in many of his clients.

Some of the most impressive studies to date involve a treatment called mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, which combines meditation with psychotherapy to help patients deal with thoughts that lead to depression. Randomized controlled trials have shown that the approach significantly reduces the risk of depression relapse in individuals who have previously had three or more major depressive episodes.
